Crypto News - 6 November 2026

Bitcoin fell below $76,000 on November 5 as a sharp technology-stock selloff spilled into cryptocurrency markets, with ether and other major tokens also declining. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $430.2 million in net withdrawals that day, adding to pressure on risk assets as investors assessed the U.S. midterm election results. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index fell to 28 on November 6, indicating Fear, versus 50 (Neutral) a day earlier and 71 (Greed) a month earlier. The pullback highlighted how closely digital assets continued to track broader market risk sentiment.

Standard Chartered Launches Tokenized Deposits in Hong Kong

Standard Chartered launched tokenized deposits for corporate clients in Hong Kong on November 2, enabling eligible businesses to transfer bank deposits using blockchain-based infrastructure. The service connects to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's EnsembleTX platform, which now supports round-the-clock interbank settlement using tokenized central-bank money. Unlike privately issued stablecoins, these tokens represent deposits held with a regulated bank, helping companies move liquidity without first converting funds into a separate cryptoasset. The bank said live transactions were already being conducted with participating firms and plans to expand the offering into additional markets over time.

Morgan Stanley Begins Tokenizing U.S. Stocks and Treasurys

Morgan Stanley announced that it had begun tokenizing U.S. equities and Treasury securities using the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation's new Tokenization Service. The platform creates blockchain-based representations of assets already held at DTCC, while preserving the underlying securities' ownership rights and existing investor protections. Morgan Stanley is among an initial group of participating financial institutions that includes JPMorgan, Citi and Fidelity, reflecting growing interest in blockchain settlement within traditional markets. Although the service launched in late October, Morgan Stanley's use of it was reported during the newsletter period, marking a step toward institutional adoption of tokenized assets.
